We keep our language system simple and pure: human teaching is only in Cantonese and English; magic work is only in Saamlawnese. If you want to learn from us, you must fit into this structure.
In Tin Yat Lineage, our language policy is not flexible. We only use Cantonese and English for all human communication. These are the only two languages we teach in and the only two languages we use when talking to people.
If you cannot understand either Cantonese or English, we simply cannot teach you. We do not use translators or third-party language helpers. Cultivation needs clear and direct communication between master and disciple.
Some people ask, “Why don’t you teach in Mandarin? The market is huge.” The answer is very simple: we do not care about that market.
There are already many Taoist sects in China, and they are focused on that side. That world is also shaped by heavy censorship and control. Many things cannot be said directly. Topics like magic, gods, spells, ghosts, and spirits are often blocked, softened, or turned into “cultural arts.”
We are not here to play that game. We are not interested in dressing up real religion as culture for “safety.” We are here to teach Taoism as it is: a living religion with real gods and real magic, not a performance or a museum.
Because of this stance, we chose to keep our human language culture in Cantonese and English only. This is part of our identity and will not change.
If you are from China but do not speak Cantonese or Hong Kong–style Cantonese, then this path is not for you. We do not teach in Mandarin and will not switch to it.
For non-Chinese disciples, do not worry. You do not need to learn Cantonese before entering or starting cultivation. Everything can be learned fully in English. Over time, you will naturally pick up:
This comes slowly and naturally as part of our living culture. You are not forced to become fluent in Cantonese.
For magic work, we use a different language: Saamlawnese 三羅話.
Saamlawnese is our own divine dialect used only inside the lineage for:
It cannot be learned anywhere else and does not belong to any existing dialect. It might sound a little like some other Chinese dialects, but it is none of them. It is a sacred, purpose-built language given by our Celestial Masters.
All magic is done in Saamlawnese with no exception. When you use it, you:
To learn Saamlawnese, you must be in our sect and learn directly from us through proper transmissions. It is not something you can DIY, copy from a book, or guess by listening.
Even though we teach online, you are still learning from real people – real masters, real seniors, and real disciples who live this Tao every day. We explain, correct, and guide you personally.
Language is part of this direct transmission. The way we speak, the tone, the rhythm, and even the small details in how we say things all carry power and meaning. This cannot be replaced by:
Our path is not built for people who want to “collect techniques” from many sources. It is built for disciples who want to commit, listen, and follow one clear direction.
If you can understand Cantonese or English and are willing to be taught properly, we will make sure you can follow, learn, and grow step by step – including Saamlawnese when the time is right.
Starting from November 20, 2025, we formally set this language direction for the lineage: human communication follows the Cantonese + English rule, and magical communication is Saamlawnese only.
Because of this update, some older materials might still show Saamlawnese words used in places that should now be Cantonese – such as “Cia Juan,” which in Cantonese is “Si Juen,” and other small details. We are slowly updating them.
If you see anything that looks mixed or outdated, do not worry. As long as you stay and learn with us, we will clean it up and guide you. Your main focus is to follow the current rule:
This language structure is part of what makes Saam Law Taoism unique – clear, focused, and pure.
If you can understand Cantonese or English and you feel that our way makes sense, then you are ready to step in. The proper way to start is to enter the system through initiation and ordain.
