What Is Fan Tai Sui?

Your Yuen Sun 元神, the spiritual planetary body, is located where our sun is, but in another dimension behind it. According to the year, your Yuen Sun might be orbiting into a bad position. When that happens, the “signal” it sends you for the year becomes very weak or distorted.

You can think of it like your cellphone losing signal because you are in a blind spot or blocked by a big wall, so the cell-towers cannot reach you. The problem is not the phone; it is the environment and positioning.

The Tai Sui “Lord” (太歲) is the major luck’s Yuen Sun or spiritual-planet for that year. Now imagine a clock floating vertically above your head:

• 6 o’clock position = directly above you (best connection for you locally).
• 12 o’clock position = the furthest place from you (worst place for your Yuen Sun).

If the Tai Sui lord is at the 6 o’clock position, and your personal Yuen Sun is at 12 o’clock, then you are Fan Tai Sui (犯太歲) because you are “opposing” it.

Whenever your Yuen Sun tries to transmit to you, the major luck’s planet is in the way, blocking it directly like an eclipse. It is like the moon blocking the sun and making everything go dark. As we often say, when the Tai Sui lord is “over your head,” you will have bad luck and calamities for the year.

Besides this direct opposing situation, there are also other kinds of Fan Tai Sui that will cause problems in different ways.

Types of Fan Tai Sui in 2026

In Saam Law Tao, we read Fan Tai Sui by looking at the earthling branches (the animal side) of your four pillars – year, month, day, and time of birth. For 2026 (Fire Horse year), the Fan Tai Sui list is:

How to Check If You Are Fan Tai Sui

To check yourself, you should look at your Ba Zi (four pillars) – year, month, day, and time of birth – and find the earthling branches (the animals) for each pillar.

You can:

• Use a Chinese calendar converter to get the four pillars and see the earthling branches.
• Or simply email Jee Sifu to have a free checkup done for you.

The branches relate to the animals, and you can see which elements of yours match the Fan Tai Sui list above (Horse, Rat, Ox, Rabbit, Rooster).

What Each Pillar Being Hit Really Means

Each pillar controls a different layer of your life. When that pillar is Fan Tai Sui, that part of your life gets affected for the year:

• Year element being affected: This is the worst. It means anything coming to you from the outside world is likely to be bad or troublesome for the year – environment, general luck, big trends.
• Month element being affected: This affects the process of things while they are happening, especially in the mental stage – plans, work, career, and how you handle responsibilities.
• Day element being affected: This hits the physical manifestation in reality – your body, your direct life, your marriage, and daily happenings.
• Time element being affected: This influences what your results will lead to for the next event – future direction, your “after-effect,” and what comes after what you have done.

If you have more than one pillar being affected, it should be taken very seriously and not neglected.

Example of a Serious Fan Tai Sui Case

For example, let’s say after checking someone’s date of birth, we find:

• Year: Rabbit
• Month: Rat
• Day: Ox
• Time: Sheep

In this case, the year, month, and day are all on the Fan Tai Sui list (Rabbit, Rat, Ox), while the time is fine.

That is a big problem. For this whole year, this person would feel like life is against them all the time. Nothing goes well. Mentally and physically, things are in chaos. Plans don’t go smooth, the body feels more strained, and the environment keeps pushing back.

The Solution – Taai Sui Deity and Fan Tai Sui FU

Since your own Yuen Sun is not doing well with you – like your home is not getting electricity – what should you do? You get yourself a generator, a secondary “battery” or power source.

Depending on which pillar is Fan Tai Sui, you should use the Fan Tai Sui FU in different ways. You can also do all of them together as a full package for stronger protection.

If Your Year Pillar Is Fan Tai Sui

The year pillar controls everything that comes toward you. If this is hit, your general luck for the year is bad.

What to do:

• Set up a Fan Tai Sui FU as an altar at home and worship this as your Taai Sui Deity Altar.
• This becomes your yearly “power station” that stabilizes the incoming luck and protects the whole household.

If Your Month Pillar Is Fan Tai Sui

The month pillar affects the process of things, especially the mental and work-related side.

What to do:

• Place or tape a Fan Tai Sui FU at home in the bedroom or near the main entrance.
• This protects the way things develop during the month and helps calm the process – thoughts, work, and planning.

If Your Day Pillar Is Fan Tai Sui

The day pillar is about your body and daily life manifestations.

What to do:

• Carry a Fan Tai Sui FU on your body – in your wallet, bag, or pocket (properly folded and kept respectful).
• This protects your physical life, body safety, and the things you personally do each day.

If Your Time Pillar Is Fan Tai Sui

The time pillar affects where things lead to, the “next step” after your current result.

What to do:

• Have a Fan Tai Sui FU burnt into your Yuen Sun by distance. This can be done by Jee Sifu for you.
• This stabilizes the future path and prevents your results from turning into bad follow-up events.
